How installing window blinds can save homeowners up to £128 per annum

Consumers could slash annual heating costs by up to 25 per cent by installing energy saving blinds. And with the average heating bill now hovering around £513 per year, this could mean £128 in people’s pocket every year!

And making savings on heating costs is up there on the UK’s money saving wish list for 2017, according to a new survey by Duette blinds.

The survey found that lower heating costs are the second most wanted saving on household expenditure in 2017, just after cheaper mortgage repayments.

The top three areas that British households would most like to make savings on in 2017 are:

1. Mortgage
2. Lower heating bills
3. Food shopping

The survey was carried on behalf of energy saving Duette blinds as part of a new initiative to encourage UK households to take control of their bills and stop throwing money out of the window.

In an uninsulated home, a staggering 20% of domestic heat is lost through windows and doors. This fact is reinforced by thermal imaging on houses that clearly show the frames, sills and even double glazed panes of glass allow heat to seep out of homes, creating massive energy holes.

The solution

Duette blinds are a range of blinds for the home that have been proven to reduce heat loss by up to 46% when fitted in a domestic window, so they start paying for themselves as soon as they are fitted. Made-to-measure Duette blinds cost from around £150.

How they work

The result of 20 years’ product development and design, Duette blinds insulate windows using a honeycomb structure and special fabric. The blackout version offers the most insulation and there are semi-translucent and translucent variants. At the window they have the appearance of pleated blinds and come in a huge array of colours and designs.
