Decora’s Birmingham warehouse boosts wholesale business
Monday, 14 April 2014 00:00

Operational from December last year, Decora’s new wholesale distribution centre has now been internally named the ‘hub of wholesale’.

Decora’s new 30, 000 sq ft premises in Birmingham is in addition to the company’s 150,000 sq ft headquarters in Lisburn. The new wholesale site has been opened to further strengthen Decora’s wholesale fabric and component business.

The transfer of over 2,000 customers will be completed by the end of April; the move has been phased in four stages to ensure the transition is a seamless as possible.

The distribution centre houses roller and vertical fabrics and components ensuring a next day delivery. This is combined with extended order cut off times of 4.30pm Mon-Thurs and 3.30pm on a Friday.

The significant investment made not only to the new warehouse, but also to the IT system, has been truly optimised with the expected increase in orders from the wholesale portal and standard customer orders being facilitated with ease. This enhanced IT system synchronises with the wholesale portal enabling customers to have access to real time stock inventories and place orders that are directly sent through to the warehouse, further increasing the accuracy and efficiency of its wholesale service.

To date, customer feedback on deliveries and service from the hub has been extremely positive. Both the efficiency and quality of deliveries have exceeded expectations.

In line with Decora’s planned product developments and new collections scheduled for spring, Birmingham will provide a launch pad to support these expansions. The new warehousing facility is quickly proving to be a success for Decora and further highlights the continual commitment to enhance its wholesale distribution service.
