Broadview Blinds undertook a school project to ensure students could continue to learn whether rain, hail or shine.

Cherry Lane school in Middlesex wanted to provide its pupils with various outdoor covered learning areas around the school to encourage the continuation of education outside of the classroom whatever the weather.

Broadview Blinds was appointed to design retractable full weather structures for various locations around the school, totalling an overall area of 224 sqm of covered space. ‘Sun-rain’ style retractable terrace frame awnings were installed, which project from the building and are supported on specially fabricated steel structures for strength. Aesthetics were important so the hardware was covered with a special powder coating in anthracite grey to make the awnings blend in with the existing school construction.

Cherry Lane School initiated the proposal and explains: “It was necessary to offer an outside learning space for the children and the Broadview undercover solutions means that regardless of poor or hot weather, our children, teachers and parents are fully protected and the school is delighted with the result.

A total of seven Broadview sun-rain terrace frame awnings and one B28 Elite cassette awning controlled with Somfy Centralis wall switches and cream vinyl flame retardent fabrics were supplied and installation only took three days.

Broadview is extremely pleased with the project as sales director, Martin Rayner explains: “The whole project was handled professionally by our team from start to finish, and the project was on time and within budget.”
