The holiday spirit

Marla Custom Blinds has been able to further improve the 5-star lifestyle of Rockley Park holiday village in Dorset by the addition of 28 electrically operated pleated roof blinds in the Owners Only Lounge.

Holiday homeowners and visitors to the Rockley Park holiday village, which is set in a beautiful coastal inlet overlooking Poole Harbour, will now be able to enjoy the sunny weather outside and then come into the area for a drink or a game of pool and stay cool. This is due to the recent installation of pleated roof blinds by Marla Custom Blinds.

Says founder and director of Marla Custom Blinds, Martin Froud:  “We work hard to exceed our customer expectations and the Buy with Confidence accreditation alongside our own five year guarantee definitely provides peace of mind in terms of a job being well done.”

“Customers also love the fact that our blinds are manufactured, assembled and processed in our own Hampshire Factory – they are truly made in Britain.”

Using a high performance solar reflective pleated fabric, the blinds not only reduce heat gain but also reduce glare enabling the owners to watch the TV screens in the lounge even during bright sunlight.

The orangery style roof measuring 11m x 4m and nearly 4m high at the ridge, required a total of 32 blinds to cover the four elevations of the roof.

The blinds, operated with a single multi-channel remote control handset, are powered with Somfy motors and controlled both as a whole, where all four elevations operated as one and individually as a group on each elevation. This offers the flexibility of opening or closing the blinds on individual elevations as the sun moves.

To minimise disruption to the guests at Rockley Park, the installation, which took a total of 29 hours, was started at 5.00pm one day and finished at 9.00pm the following day by a team of four fitters that worked continually in shifts.
